Get Under the Covers with FOUR of This Week's Hot New Releases!

We all love books. What makes us want to pick up a book and check it out at the store?

Good cover design, of course!

For me, it goes a step further. I love covers, yes, but I'm also obsessed with fonts. With the binding. With the endpapers. With the deckled edges. With chapter headers. With the innovative way pages are sometimes numbered. To me, the interior of a book can--and should--be just as gorgeous as the exterior.

..After all, it's what's on the inside that counts, right?

When the inside looks good, it helps keep me engaged in the story by reiterating the book's mood.

I was browsing this week's new releases and there are SO MANY gorgeous books. Seriously so many.

Four in particular stood out to me as being beautiful both inside and out:

  • LIBRARY OF SOULS by Ransom Riggs (Quirk Books)
  • A MAD ZOMBIE PARTY by Gena Showalter (Harlequin Teen)
  • SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo (Macmillan)
  • THE SLEEPER AND THE SPINDLE by Neil Gaiman with Illustrations by Chris Riddell (HarperCollins)

SPINES!!!

Oh, la la, TATTOOED SPINES!!!

Let's start with...

LIBRARY OF SOULS
by Ransom Riggs:

Look what's hiding under that dust jacket!!!

And can you see that crow!?
Can you see the crow NOW?

Chapter One!
Oh, the gorgeous artwork that brings the cover immediately to mind!!!

Finally, the gorgeous picture book of a short story...

THE SLEEPER AND THE SPINDLE
by Neil Gaiman
with illustrations
by Chris Riddell:

First, you have to see the full effect of the cover...
...because it's a trick of the eye!

That's right, this dust jacket is SHEER!!!
I love how it creates a fun effect!!
ENDPAPERS!!!
I love that it's a map!
